What better way to spend the holiday season than to go on a castle hotel tour in Ireland? We spent the coziest time of the year doing just that and it was nothing short of a dream! Read along to check out the three castle hotels we stayed in, each unique in their own way but equally as beautiful.
1. Dromoland Castle
Dromoland Castle is located about 20 miles northwest of Limerick, Ireland and is a true 5 star experience from its impeccable service to its modern touches, to its stunning rooms and surrounding grounds. The 16th century castle is truly one of the most beautiful castles I’ve ever seen. It’s no wonder so many people have weddings here. The hotel recently underwent its final phase of a major €20 million renovation. to preserve the architecture and history of the building while also modernizing the castle. 2. Kinnitty Castle
Kinnitty Castle Hotel is located in the heart of Ireland, Just a 90 minute drive from Dublin, Limerick and Galway and 2 hours from Cork. The experience here feels incredibly authentic in addition to luxurious. The castle dates back to 1209 and was destroyed and rebuilt not once but twice and yet it retains character and beauty, making you feel like you’ve stepped back into time in Medieval Ireland. Each room is incredibly different in design and size and are super comfortable and cozy. It’s also known to have a bit of a haunted history as the original castle at Kinnitty was built by the O’Carrolls at Glinsk about 350AD!
3. Clontarf Castle
Conveniently located just two miles from the heart of Dublin and just five miles from Dublin Airport, Clontarf is indeed a luxurious stay outside of the city. This is the perfect castle hotel stay if you’re limited on time traveling in Ireland and want to stay close to Dublin. Dating back to 1837, this gorgeous castle is equipped with modern amenities, without sacrificing the look and feel of the castle. The rooms are incredibly stylish and the restaurant bar is so cozy.
