In the early 1960’s, Andy Warhol gained renown as a leading figure in the visual art movement known as Pop art. Although artists such as Marcel Duchamp and Jasper Johns had previously integrated popular imagery into their works, no one focused on iconic American and cultural objects as exclusively as Warhol.
