Graciela Chichilnisky

Co-Founder Global Thermostat at Global Thermostat

Graciela Chichilnisky co-founded Global Thermostat in 2010 and served as the CEO until January 2022. Global Thermostat specializes in the development and commercialization of a technology that captures carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere. Chichilnisky was also a Professor of Economics and Mathematical Statistics at Columbia University from 1996, and later served as a Cenator from 2008 to 2012. Additionally, they worked as a Project Consultant for the World Bank Group in 2009, contributing to their "International Perspective on Gender Gap" project. In the same year, they also served as a Scientific Editor for the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI).

Graciela Chichilnisky has pursued their education with a focus on economics and mathematics. Graciela attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where they earned a Ph.D. degree in Economics and a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Mathematics. Additionally, they obtained another Ph.D. degree in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
