Can the KONI Sport be adjusted when installed on the car?

Can the Koni Sport (Yellow) be adjusted once installed on the car?
Have anyone modified the shock top covers to get access to the adjuster knob? Is this possible?

    Thanks

If I remember correctly on my MK4 Jetta, dampening can be adjusted by using the adjuster 'knob' by tightening or loosening the top of the shock under the hood. I may be completely not remembering correctly.

Nope, I'm pretty sure the Koni Sport can't be adjusted without taking it out.

Re: Can the KONI Sport be adjusted when installed on the car?

Thank you for your answers, but please let me clarify.
To the best of my knowledge the KONI Sports have the following adjustments:

    a) 3 Ring locations on each shock - By swapping the ring from the middle to the upper or lower you can adjust the height - This obviously can happen only with the shocks outside of the car (or maybe on the car but w/o any tension from the springs).

    b) Adjuster knob on the top of the shock shaft which can make the shock stiffer or softer. This adjuster usually is visible at the front shock towers (most cars) but the rear ones many times are not accessible due to the carpet and/or the plastic shock tower covers at the rear.

My question has to do with (b) is it possible to adjust the stiffness of the shocks or the access is blocked.
If the access is blocked has anyone tried to trim the plastic panels?

In general it's really interesting playing with the stiffness front/back since you can make the car to rotate in the turns and be more fun to drive...

so b. means I'm not totally crazy. In my jetta, the access was right there under the hood. I'd be interested to see what you come up with to get access to it.

There are different series for the Koni sport (yellow) shocks. The ones made for the C5 A6 (at least for my 4.2) are 82 series which don't have the adjustment knob on top. You have to take the shock out, collapse it and turn to change the dampening. The series which have the adjustment button on top is 26,28 and 30.

Thank you so much, I wasn't aware of this kind of adjustment for some of the Konis...
I went through all the Koni Sport Model for A6
    http://www.koni-na.com/cat_search.cf...&submit=Search
and basically all of them can only be adjusted according to the way you describe...

It seems that the EFD is the way to go but Koni doesn't allow lowering springs with that kit... bummer..

    Perhaps you meant FSD?

If you had a 2.7t Koni does allow lowering with the FSD.

Why one and not the other I'm not sure, no real answer was given when I called and asked.

The guy simply said there wasn't anything to say you "couldn't" do it, just that Koni did not advocate it.

    Good to know that...
Btw yes it was a typo meant FSD.
The problem is that some of these "smart" shocks they stiffen up when they are already a bit compressed - so if you lower it would always be stiff (or a bit stiffer than it should have been).
