Where in the world are you happiest?

I like being at our farm in France, in Provence. But I'm not really the unhappy type, anywhere. Although I'm not by nature a city person, I'm perfectly happy in a city I like or in a city with an interesting inner city that I may not have known before. I can enjoy myself in most places I think.

What is your road most travelled?

From the States to London - the city has been a staple for decades, almost 30 years. It's funny: I met a young journalist here recently and they introduced their newspaper as though I would never have heard of it. I said to her, 'Well, isn't that funny, because I was the nanny to your editor once upon a time'. I'm godfather to her boss. So, London I come to a lot.

What do you never travel without?

Probably my gym clothes or a book - whatever I happen to be reading at the time.

Name a place that didn't live up to the hype

I don't have one, really. I'm a man who keeps an open mind about places and thinks they might be better the next time I go back. There are places I can't even imagine going back to, but even then I think I might be surprised.

Tell us about a great little place you know

I've owned part of a restaurant in Lisbon for many, many years that I like very much. It's called Bica do Sapato and it's a lovely place. It's not easy times in Portugal right now though.

Happiest holiday memory?

A vacation a few years ago with my producing partners, two separate people with two different families and lots of children, along with our children, doing the Croatian coast, which was very nice.
