It's all about David Beckham right now, thanks to the release of his new four-part Netflix documentary, BECKHAM, which dropped on the platform today.

According to IMDb, it provides fans with "never-before-seen footage" that follows the footballing legend's "meteoric rise from humble beginnings to global football stardom."

For those who have already binged the four available eps (we're guilty, too), you'll know that it pretty much wraps up around 2013, the year David officially hung up his boots and retired from football.

But in terms of the last 10 years, what has the 48-year-old been up to? From owning his own footie club to a slew of brand deals, here's everything you need to know about David's career post-football...

He owns Inter Miami football club

Once a footballer, always a footballer ey? After David retired professionally from the sport, he decided to set up his own Major League Soccer team in the US, and in 2018, Inter Miami was founded.

Naturally, the club gained international attention thanks to David being its president and co-owner. (Its other two primary shareholders are Miami-based businessman and brothers, Jorge and Joe Mas.)

It gained further notability in 2023 when fellow footballing legend Lionel Messi signed for the team. Following the signing, the club won its first major trophy in the US - the 2023 Leagues Cup.

While Inter Miami is currently valued at $600 million, it's estimated that - following Messi joining the club - it's set to reach a whopping $1 billion.

His 10-year partnership deal promoting football in Qatar

During last year's World Cup - which was held in Qatar - it was revealed David had signed a multi-million 10-year ambassadorship for the country.

However, the 48-year-old received a ton of backlash following the deal, due to the fact that the LGBTQ+ community experience legal persecution there.

Despite peoples' resentment towards the ambassadorship, David didn't step down, and has only recently defended his move. Speaking to the Telegraph, he said: "I do a lot of research into partners that I'm going into business with. And I wanted to be involved in another World Cup. I like to see the game grow, and that means going into territories it hasn't been in before."

He continued: "I knew there'd be questions, I knew there was going to be criticism, but I've always been a believer that football is such a powerful tool. I knew that once the World Cup started, not that it would go away, but it was all then about how people were treated, how people weren't excluded, what an experience the World Cup would be."

His charity work

David and his wife Victoria are quite the philanthropists. The power couple have their own charity, the Victoria and David Beckham Charitable Trust, which provides wheelchairs to children in need.

David is also a UNICEF ambassador and has been majorly involved in the charity's Unite Against AIDS Campaign. In 2007, he travelled to Sierra Leone with the organisation where he said: "We can't turn a blind eye to the tens of thousands of young children who die every day in the developing world mostly from causes that are preventable."

Other notable charity work includes helping to raise £185,000 for the NSPCC by auctioning off two World Cup party tickets on eBay.

His brand partnerships

Over the years, David has been involved with many different brand deals, which have helped bump up his net worth quite a bit.

From being the face of Haig Whiskey for almost a decade to other collaborations with major brands like Adidas, Samsung, Sainsbury's, H&M, Jaguar, Burger King and Breitling, it's pretty obvious that David is a very sought-after celeb.

He's rumoured to be launching his own alcohol brand

Many fans and industry people have been speculating that there may be a reason behind David's sudden decision to part ways with Haig Whiskey this year - specifically that he's planning on launching his own alcohol brand.

It's a career move that's been incredibly successful for other famous faces, including Kendall Jenner who owns 818 tequila, George Clooney, who's behind Casamigos tequila, and Ryan Reynold's own Aviation Gin. So it wouldn't be completely out of the question if David were to go down this path...
