Hey everyone, I just posted a showcase of my Eldar army on my blog (in sig) about getting an army battle ready with a 'table quality' or 'game quality' paint job. Here's a pic of a squad of swooping hawks from that post:

There's a bunch of golden demon quality paints up on blogs right now, but a lot of people simply strive to get models on the table to play. This blog entry is designed to discuss simple and easy techniques that can help an army stand out on the table top.

Happy hobbying everyone!

Ha ha, thanks coolyo. It's a basic black prime, codex base, and two highlights of fortress grey and skull white. Each feather is simply three colors of a differing shade, one base and two highlights.

What I wanted to convey was that a simple technique (in this case highlighting) can yield good results. There is no blending, weather effects, shading, etc. used! Using a simple but effective technique can get each model play ready in 3-4 hours tops and really stand out on the table top.

In your wardrobe, looking for Narnia.

They look great. I love the bright colours on the feathers, they really work with the dull grey.

Jazzbacker, here's a couple of pics from my 2011 Golden Demon submission. It's a duel between a grotesque and fire warriors. It received an honorable mention. Thanks for the cudos!

Me likey the Swooping Hawks! That literally made me go "Wow!" I love rainbows and rainbow schemes, I paint my Eldar with lots of different colours. Shame my main army is Dark Eldar, haha.

The diorama is great, but Groteseque models make me squirm. Never liked anything like that (no Coven army for me)

Every Dakkanaught gets a 4+ Pinch of Salt save.
When you suffer a Falling Sky hit, roll a D6 - on a 4+ the hit is ignored as per the Pinch of Salt save. On a 1-3 panic insues - you automatically fail common sense tests for the next 2 weeks and get +7 to your negativity stat. -Praxiss

love them, I think they look amazing I was never a fan of the blue hawks, and the rainbow feathers are great...but 3-4 hours per model seems a bit excessive for table top quality, but like others have said these look higher than tt quality

That Fire Warrior has some stones.

But seriously...seriously? You just put these up as table top quality to encourage the bottom ten percent of painters to slit their wrists didn't you? The Swooping Hawks are amazing, and the display you made is freaking phenomenal.
