Being John Malkovich-Original Vintage Promotional Character Poster for Midnight Screenings of Spike Jones Surreal Comedy with John Cusack, Cameron Diaz, and John Malkovich.
From renowned director, Spike Jonze, and the endlessly inventive writer Charley Kaufman comes the incredible surrealist Comedy about John Malkovich Puppeteer.
Puppeteer Craig Schwartz and animal lover and pet store clerk Lotte Schwartz are just going through the motions of their marriage. Despite not being able to earn a living through puppeteering, Craig loves his profession as it allows him to inhabit the skin of others. He follows that desire to the next level when he is forced to take a job as a file clerk for the off-kilter LesterCorp, located on the 7½ floor of a Manhattan office building. Behind one of the filing cabinets in his work area, Craig finds a hidden door which he learns is a portal into the mind of John Malkovich. Each visit through the portal lasts fifteen minutes after which the traveler is ejected as a moist projectile into a ditch next to the New Jersey Turnpike. Craig is fascinated by this discovery and shares it with Lotte...
The acting is brilliant... Cameron Diaz is nearly unrecognizable, both in behavior and appearance, as is John Cusack. John Malkovich was presented with a challenging and raw meta task in playing himself, and he seems to have seized the opportunity with Xtra relish. He ends up creating this wonderful fictional character of John Malkovich "the vessel". This film is absolutely astounding. Attempting to explain the plot in any way that would do it justice is an exercise in futility. Let it be known throughout the land (Or at least the 5 boroughs) that you will never see a movie as smart, surreal, and funny as "Being John Malkovich".
