1985, American hardcover edition, Holt Rinehart Winston, NY, 64 pages. Amelia Jane Murray was born in 1800 on the Isle of Man. In the early years of her lifetime, she produced a magical series of fairy pictures. They have never before been published. Includes a brief overview of the artist by the Assistant Keeper of Paintings, Victoria and Albert Museum.
The artwork itself is beautiful, but the long genealogical digression tacked on at the end is tedious to wade through, and didn't add much (if anything) to my appreciation of the paintings. Still, overall it's an interesting artifact of early nineteenth century faery illustration.
