Dalai Lama linked to Glastonbury

The Dalai Lama could be appearing at Glastonbury this year

Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama appears to be an unlikely booking for the bill of this summer's Glastonbury Festival.

The 79-year-old's website announced he would be attending the event in Somerset, although the entry was later removed from his online schedule.

The line-up for the event is not expected to be confirmed until around April with organisers usually keen to keep the full list of names under wraps.

The message to website visitors, listing his engagement for June 28, said: "His Holiness will give a talk at the Glastonbury Festival in the morning."

A message about him appearing at Kempton Park racetrack the following day to give a talk about "Buddhism in the 21st Century" remains on the site.

The Dalai Lama has lived in exile in Dharamsala, northern India, after fleeing Tibet in 1959 due to upheaval in his homeland. In 2012 he shared a stage with Russell Brand as the comedian compered a question and answer session in Manchester.
