A pub in Dublin city centre was named the best in the country at the annual National Hospitality Awards, held in the capital on Monday.

The Stag’s Head on Dublin’s Dame Court was recognised as Ireland’s best pub at the ceremony, coming out on top of runners-up Doheny & Nesbitt and Lowry’s Irish Music and Whiskey Bar in Galway.

The Wright Venue in Swords scooped the award for the country’s best nightclub, while Temple Bar’s Vintage Cocktail Club was named the best cocktail bar in Ireland.

Toner’s on Baggot Street was named the best traditional pub in the country, while Phibsborough’s Back Page was awarded the prize for the best sporting pub in Ireland.

The ceremony, held in Dublin’s Intercontinental Hotel on Monday, also showcased Ireland’s best hotels and named The Europe Hotel and Resort the best in Ireland.

Tankardstown in Slane was awarded the prize for best boutique hotel, while Kerry’s Sheen Falls was given the top prize for being Ireland’s best destination hotel.

Meanwhile, Mayo’s Ashford Castle was named the best resort in Ireland, while the Intercontinental in Ballsbridge was tipped for being the best Irish business hotel.

Michelin-starred Galway restaurant Loam was commended and presented with the prize for best restaurant, while Neven Maguire's MacNean House in Cavan was named the best local restaurant at the annual award ceremony, run in association with Hospitality Ireland magazine.
