Gráinne Seoige: ‘If you concentrate on self-care and self-love, you tend to attract somebody’

Ready to front new Irish dating show Grá ar an Trá, the TV presenter talks about growing up in the Gaeltacht, the loneliness of menopause and how she found love when she least expected it

Time is not on Gráinne Seoige’s side the week we’re due to chat. Her guest presenting slot on The Six O’Clock Show, an appearance on Celebrity Gogglebox and her son’s birthday have all come at once. There’s some email ping-pong before she finds a window for a chat via Zoom.

Seoige is sitting in her parked car, outside a TV studio, when she comes on camera. It’s not the ideal scenario but the TV presenter, who famously reported on the 2002 Bali bombings for TV3 News during her honeymoon on the paradise island, could probably conduct a compelling interview while parallel parking.
