Wayfinder

Wayfinder is a series of digital illustrations that portray different landscapes and sceneries of past and present time periods, in which the title of each illustration denotes a specific date.

I was really interested in exploring the narrative qualities of images, and how I could create an implied linear narrative between standalone illustrations. So I decided to draw inspiration from my desire and curiosity to explore new places, and painted various settings that are titled by past and present dates in time. The act of naming these illustrations with dates rather than a traditional name is to recontextualize these drawings as places that have been visited, and have yet to be visited.

These illustrations were also printed out quite small in the size of photographs, imploring the viewer to come up close and intimate with these little works. Allowing the viewer to read these works in a similar perspective as the implied narrator, how these different places have been captured and navigated by the person who experienced them.
