NASHE Chavs, an upcoming gospel singer and writer, is basking in glory with his single “Capable Hands” being a regular feature on radio gospel chart shows.

The song has dominated the ZiFM Gospel Top 20 countdown chart show for more than 20 weeks.

For five consecutive weeks, “Capable Hands” was placed second on the chart before ascending to the top position.

The song then ruled the roost for six consecutive weeks.

Cumulatively, the song has over 20 weeks in the Top 10 of the gospel chart show.

The budding artiste said he was inspired by sad experiences that were common during the height of Covid-19 to write the track.

“During the peak of the lockdown, a lot of bad things were happening. People were stressed, with some having lost their jobs and family members. I wrote the song to encourage people to soldier on and put their lives and trust in the capable hands of the Lord,” Chavs, real name Munashe Chavunduka said.

He is also an upcoming author who penned a book titled “Lockdown Reflections”.Chavunduka added that the song is still relevant despite the number of infections and casualties having dropped significantly compared to the last two years.

“I am still getting feedback from listeners who are saying that the song motivates them. The message in the track can be applied in many situations,” Chavunduka, who also identified himself as a mental health advocate, said.

The youthful singer’s first musical production was the song “Handikendenge” which he did with the group Shabach.

A member of the United Family International Church (UFIC), he has worked with both the Sina and Zimspiration youth choirs.

At one point, he performed with Zimspiration at the main stage at the Harare International Festival of Arts (HIFA). Apart from recording his own songs, Chavunduka has done studio backing vocals for revered gospel musician Pastor G.
