A RAILWAY BRIDGE TOO FAR

War film actor Edward Fox slams plans for ‘ugly’ footbridge at railway near his Dorset home

Fox stared in the classic film A Bridge Too Far in 1977

WAR film actor Edward Fox is battling plans for an “ugly” railway footbridge near his home.

Fox, 80, who starred in 1977 classic A Bridge Too Far, rallied a 250-strong meeting to object to the structure at a 19th century station.

The huge wheelchair ramps on an existing bridge would replace a level crossing rail bosses have wanted to close for ten years.

But he says it will be a “permanent blot” at the listed building in the market town of Wareham, Dorset.
