Grainne Seoige stuns as she ties the knot in intimate ceremony with husband Leon Jordaan
GRAINNE Seoige and partner Leon Jordaan tied the knot at the plush Cliff at Lyons in Co Kildare today - six years after getting engaged.
The wedding was "small and intimate" with just under 100 guests invited - and they had no bridal party.
Grainne said: “What a wonderful and magical day for both Leon and myself.
“To be surrounded by our closest friends and family for this special day means the world to us, we couldn't be happier.”
Grainne and Leon met in Dublin back in 2011, and are now based in South Africa, where they run a diamond jewellery business.
BREAK FROM TRADITION
There were elements of both their cultures at the intimate wedding ceremony, Gráinne's Spiddal clan put on a traditional céad míle fáilte for Leon's South African family and friends.
Speaking to evoke Grainne said: "We wanted something where we felt we’d get around to everyone and when looking around the room, they were really our favourite people.
"We just decided to keep it very simple and pared-down. There won’t be yards of taffeta and millions of guys in waistcoats.
"Lots of my girlfriends were saying: 'Oh thank God, I would hate to be a bridesmaid'.
"It’s something you might be into when you’re a little bit younger. When you’re a little bit older, it doesn’t have the same appeal."
GRAINNE'S GUNA
In the lead-up to the wedding Grainne jetted to New York to pick up her wedding dress, custom made by designer and pal Don O'Neill.
Speaking of her dress Grainne said it is "the most beautiful couture gown I have ever seen - by one of the most talented and wonderful people in fashion".
The shimmering gown is embroidered with over one million sequins and beads.
The couples wedding bands were designed by Grainne and her Grace Diamond's business.
Leon’s wedding band is an 18kt yellow and white gold band.
Grainne's matching ring is an 18kt White Gold band with a five carat cushion cut green tourmaline.
