Every little girl dreams of being a princess...so when it was time to pick a wedding venue the little girl in me screamed Castle! I picked Kinnitty Castle because the staff was very responsive and helpful with my inquiries. I must admit I was a little nervous coming all the way from NY that it would be like any other hotel...which I could get here at home in NY. But to my surprise it was exactly as I imagined....they kept up a very rustic, old fashioned, non modernised feel. I absolutely fell in love as did my guests and six year old flower girl who declared she's moving in! I cannot say enough about the staff especially our wedding consultant Aidan! I literally felt like I had known him forever! He was super friendly and helpful. He planned and executed everything flawlessly! It was such a beautiful day and everything was stunning! Definitely the wedding of my dreams! Thank you so much Aidan!!

I recently had the pleasure of getting married at Kinnitty Castle and to say I can't recommend it highly enough, is an understatement.
The venue, accommodation, food, service, cleanliness, facilities and in particular the staff were amazing.
Aidan and Simon (and their team) did a huge amount of work to make our day go to plan and be extra special. Aidans support during the planning stages of our wedding, really reduced a lot of stress and pressure, for which we are particularly grateful (Thank You Aidan).
We look forward to visiting again for dinner or another stay, next time we are back home in Ireland.

Headed for a Wedding Anniversary night. Lovely Hotel, but for me it lacks certain things. Such a beautiful building should be surrounded by beautiful gardens, what you usually see at the majority of Irish castles. The room: the Bernand, lovely big room, but it lacks attention to detail; for example, there is a mat at the side of the bed, but only on one side, since the floor is a wooden floor, it would be nice there would be a mat on each side of the bed. In the bathroom, there is practically nowhere to put your own toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrushes, face wash, etc) Such a historical building and there is nowhere in the welcome package to read the history of the castle, what a pity, we ended googling it. Also, it doesn't seem the welcome package gets checked by staff regularly, ours contained the activities for the previous month. At the time of booking, I had mentioned in writing, we were vegan, and our stay included an evening meal, well, we felt disappointed, as if we didn't mention it in advance, our meal had to be "this, without that, and maybe add this other", breakfast was a little bit of the same. Also, at breakfast, it would be nice waitresses were a little bit more aware on when to retrieve empty plates, rather than you ending with a few dishes pushed to the side at the table. In my experience, Kinnitty Castle fits more the rating of a 3* hotel than a 4*.

From the roadside it looks superb but sadly after the entrance gates you realise it needs investment to bring the property up to the standard one would expect for such a fine building. We popped in for Bar Food in what is aptly named the dungeon. Staff were warm, welcoming & friendly. The food itself was mediocre for the price paid. Upon paying the bill it appeared there was no record. Would return as the setting is beautiful. Magnificent courtyard to the back of the hotel.

Everything about our stay was great! We stayed one night for my 30th birthday, and it was just magical. We hiked all over the grounds before dinner, listened to a fabulous musician in the Dungeon bar afterwards, and the next morning enjoyed a full Irish breakfast. The only bummer I experienced was the kitchen closing before I could order dessert ;) all in all, from the staff to the ground, Kinnitty exceeded all my expectations. Thank you for a magical birthday. Special shout out to our bartender Matthew, who put up with our silly shenanigans all night!

We loved our brief stay at the castle on our way out of Ireland. Definitely a unique and special experience. Certainly book all activities well in advance because most are via third parties that come to the castle by appointment. The service at the castle was great with helping me book my horseback riding session, which was one of the highlights of my trip.

I loved having an afternoon tea in the library bar before my ride and relaxing in the dungeon bar afterward.

We only stayed for one night at the tail end of our trip heading back toward the Dublin airport area and it worked out perfectly. Had an easy ride to the airport the next day without having to rush.

We had a great one night stay at Kinnitty Castle. Our room was very comfortable and the food was very good. We had a nightcap in the Dungeon Pub where a young man played the violin and a young woman played guitar and sang. A great way to end our evening. In all, an unique experience to add to our memories of Ireland.

Of all the places we stayed on our trip to your beautiful country, we loved the Castle the most. The staff was very friendly, especially Connor. Connor took us on an impromptu tour of the castle and grounds. He was knowledgable about the local history of the area. After the tour, we sat in the pub and continued to talk with him while he worked. It was a fantastic experience!

The hotel setting is very pretty and peaceful with some nice walks nearby but the interior is a little dated & the food was totally fine but a little uninspiring. The staff were great, very friendly and helpful. The reason for the 3 star review (& the reason I won't be going back) is the bedroom. The walls between rooms were paper thin and we could hear our neighbours conversations (& snoring) crystal clear. The room also wasn't particularly clean, the shower had cobwebs in it and I found shoes belonging to a previous guest.

What an amazing Hotel, one of those quaint , private, special places that I had never heard of. My husband booked it for my birthday surprise. It is beautiful , rooms huge food is amazing. Quaint little village with traditional music at its core. Great weekend will return. Joan

The drive up to the was beautiful! The castle need serious renovations. There are no elevators, check-in was awkward but pleasant. We carried overnight bags up to our cold room and left luggages in our rental vehicle. We didn't want to carry them up several flights of stairs. NO ELEVATORS! We did explore briefly, it is a castle and quite eerie at night. The food was fresh and delicious. The scenery was breathtaking.

Rooms need serious upkeep. In our suite we had cracked window panes, mould in shower and walls were grubby. Staff are friendly and food is good
They could do more with the grounds also.

This is a review for those who want to use it as an event venue. A fantastic venue with beautiful views, polite staff and the food was some of the best I have had at a wedding. If you want to have your wedding in a place that makes you feel like royalty then this is the choice for you. The fact that there are multiple bars and they all have their own unique character is a great little bonus. The only downside is I think that it might not be 100% wheelchair friendly but when you consider that it is a castle which has been around for a while then you can see why this might be the case. I did not stay overnight due to the rooms being expensive so I am not able to comment on that part of the business.

Stunning setting for my sister's wedding. However I did find my room too warm and basics like tea, coffee and water were not available in the rooms.

8

A nice castle turned to hotel. Our room was fine. No TV which was no issue. Only issue was paper thin walls that you can hear people speak ect.
A pint is between €1-€2 more expensive than most other bars.
Was with a wedding party so was a discount.but at full price I would be a little disappointed with the room in regards with the walls. No view from the window
A nice escape.

We booked here as my best friend was getting married at the castle. The building itself is beautiful. The venue for the service was amazing. We had a discounted rate as we were part if the wedding party. This was literally just bed and breakfast. There were no facilities to make your own tea or coffee in the room you had to go down to the restaurant for this. There was no TV. I had to sit in the bath to have a shower. No bathrobes provided. There was a bottle of water in the room (could have just been tap water) with a note to say that the bottles were not complimentary... some of us took this to mean that neither was the water... wording could have been clearer. Breakfast was not that great. We had also stayed at the Shannon Harbour Masters House B&B and for 2 nights it was the same price as 1 night at the castle, and their breakfast was better!! I think you are just paying for the name of the castle.

Loved it. So did my 6 year old - a real castle. Room was very comfortable (small, with thick walls, as you'd expect in a castle, but that is no criticism). Ate in The Dungeon Bar and the food was excellent. I had catch of the day (hake). The flavours were great.....far more than I'd expect for bar food. Totally recommend the place. Really nice walks around the estate too.

5

Beautiful Castle and wonderful staff. My displeasure was in the severe lack of amenities like TV, Air Conditioning and WiFi that works beyond the front desk area. My wife have stayed at several castles across England, Scotland and Ireland - each and every one of them had these amenities. The reason we were told that there was lack of them was "we want you to experience true castle living". This excuse was a main reason why we will not return anytime soon. Not to mention, the stay itself was the most expensive during our 2 weeks in Ireland and we only stayed one night where as other stays were 2 + days.

Went here to eat in the Dungeon Bar. The food was tastey and I loved the atmosphere and quirky layout. After food we went for a nice walk around the haunted grounds and took in the scenery. Highly recommend this place. Hopefully we will see some ghosts next time :)

Loved staying here. It's quirky as good castle hotels usually are. Comfy beds, homely rooms, perfect breakfast. Not much to the grounds, but people do not come here for the grounds. There are either here for weddings or as a comfortable base to explore the nearby Slieve Bloom adventure trails and nature walks.

The staff made our 10th anniversary celebration special with attentive service and good cheer. Excellent gourmet restaurant on site with two bars including live fraditional Irish music. The accomodations were charming and clean, if a bit worn in spots (but it is a 12 century castle). Overall a wonderful stay.

Speak of the personality of the Irish! I could not find one single fault with the staff. Friendly, amusing, happy to help. What more could you possibly ask for, I don't get how someone could nit-pick over such a wonderful hotel although bathroom facilities could be slightly improved. The decor and furniture is so fascinating with the time period and it encouraged me (and I assume others) to do some research surrounding it. Anyone staying near the area or intending on visiting: This hotel is a wonderful party location, a family wedding happened here and it was so nice to celebrate this occasion in such a nice hotel, the surrounding are epic and really say a lot for the general Irish geography, all green, all fresh. It seems so peaceful and tranquil. The surroundings are host to a lot of available walks and roams, it truly gives you time to be with nature and your thoughts, let alone the tennis courts! Food and service absolutely faultless and I even managed to catch a glimpse of the culture here watching a game of Gaelic football. Once more, I cannot speak any higher of such a place and again, if you're planning on a stay in Ireland, this is the place for you.
