How can I use this Christmas Tree Template?

Enjoy a fun colour and crafts activity with your 1st/2nd Class using this wonderful Christmas Tree Template. 

Once you've downloaded this resource, you'll have access to 2 differentiated Christmas Tree Templates to explore with your class. Simply print out this resource in either A3 or A4 sizing and cut out this template to get started. You can either colour in this resource to design and decorate your own Christmas tree, or you can use this template as a handy stencil for your own pictures.

To do this, simply place the Christmas Tree Template underneath a blank piece of white paper. Using a pencil, trace out the template to complete your picture.

Holding the Christmas tree stencil and drawing around it will help children to use their coordination and muscles in their hands and wrists which will encourage fine motor skill development.

How to use this resource to create Christmas Tree decorations:

Our wonderful Christmas Tree Template has a variety of wonderful uses for your classroom. Not only is this activity great for an arts lesson, but also to create beautiful classroom decorations!

For example, you could use the Christmas tree stencil activity to create your own Christmas bunting. Simply print it onto a piece of card or stick it on to a cardboard box and cut around it to make a sturdy stencil. Use this resource to draw several Christmas tree shapes onto different coloured paper before cutting them out and attaching them with string. Combine it with this Bauble Bunting to complete your decorations off nicely.

What are the origins of the Christmas tree tradition?

Everybody loves a good Christmas tree- from children, to parents, to elves. But where does the idea come from?

Germany is credited with bringing the tradition of decorating Christmas trees to the rest of the world. In the 16th century, devout German Christians brought decorated trees into their homes. Then Germans brought this tradition over to America in the 1800s.
