Ibrahim Rugova Statue

Sculpted in Tirana by Julian Muqollari’s studio, the four-meter tall monument was finished in a record fifteen days. Unveiled  in 2013, this is the first statue and square in Pristina honoring the activism of President Ibrahim Rugova. Known for advocating internationally for Kosovo’s independence since 1989 as the leader of Democratic League of Kosovo, he never got to live in an independent Kosovo due to his unexpected death from cancer. President Rugova’s mantra was non-violent resistance against the Milosević regime, earning him the title of Kosovo’s Gandhi.
