Furman’s Morlan named SoCon men’s golfer of the week

Shot 9-under 204 to finish tied for first

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Will Morlan has been selected as the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from Oct. 19-25. The selection is made by the league office.

Morlan finished tied for first at the Furman Intercollegiate, which wrapped play on Sunday. The sophomore from Alpharetta, Georgia, posted rounds of 65-70-69 for a tournament score of 9-under-par 204. The tournament marked the second time this season that Morlan finished as the co-champion, as he finished tied for first at the Old Town Collegiate on Sept. 27.

Furman finished the Furman Intercollegiate fourth in the 15-team, 85-golfer field with a 4-over-par 856 performance. The Paladins shot 283 in the first round, 285 in the second and 288 in the final round.

Furman will not be back in action until 2023 when the Paladins travel to Jacksonville, Florida, for the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational, hosted by North Florida, on Feb. 5-6. Six SoCon teams will be in action this week, headlined by UNCG hosting the Grandover Collegiate, in which Samford will also compete.
